History

The Group was founded in the spring of 1945 on the occasion of the local liberation parade after World War II. The stiltwalking refers to a very old traditon. The 'Langevelde' area of the town flooded almost yearly because of the little 'Molenbeek' river. Cut off from the outside world, the people could only reach the towncentre while walking on stilts. During strong winters, they crossed on clogs or on large pieces of wood. The clogwalkers illustrate this use from the cold winters of yesteryear.

What started as a curiosity has quickly grown into a world renowned folklore group.
